Privacy Policy

Effective date: 26 July 2026

Backspot is built on one principle: what you save is yours, and it stays with you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.

What the app stores, and where

What leaves your device (and why)

What the developer collects

Nothing. No personal data, no location history, no usage analytics, no identifiers. The developer cannot see your places, notes, photos or location.

Permissions the app asks for

PermissionUsed for
Location (While Using)Saving the spot you're standing on; showing distance and direction back
Location (Always)Optional — only if you turn on an arrival reminder, so iOS can wake the app near a saved place
NotificationsDelivering those arrival reminders
Microphone & SpeechOptional voice notes
Camera / Photo libraryOptional photos of a place

Each permission is requested only when you use the related feature, and the app works without the optional ones.

Data retention and deletion

Everything lives in the app. Deleting a place deletes its notes and photos. Deleting the app deletes the on-device library. Data synced to your private iCloud can be removed by deleting the app's iCloud data in Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud, or by deleting places in the app.

Children

Backspot does not collect data from anyone, including children, and has no age-gated content.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
